Endodontic Retreatment

With the appropriate care, your teeth that have had endodontic treatment will last as long as other natural teeth.  Occasionally, root canal revision (retreatment) is required to allow for complete healing.  Incomplete healing can be due to a new dental cavity, complex or additional anatomy, curved or calcified canals initially challenging to clean, or a loose filling or crown.  Dr. Tutwiler, a specialist in endodontic therapy, may recommend Endodontic Retreatment in theses cases.  A CBCT 3-D image is recommended for all teeth requiring endodontic revision or retreatment.  After endodontic retreatment has been completed, you will need to return to your general dentist as soon as possible to have the permanent restoration placed to fully restore your tooth.
